Always humbling

I know they are human. I know they sin. I know they are flesh and blood.

I still think it humbling and encouraging to see a priest waiting outside the box to have his confession heard.

There were two in front of me at lunchtime today.

Very powerful experience as both penitent and confessor last night in St John's, Barrhead. A dozen priests all kept going for at least 45 minutes. What has happened in Barrhead you may ask? Answer: 1) a good Parish Priest; 2) a mission led by the Franciscans of the Renewal.

certainly, Paulinus. I once saw a priest come away from the confessional - a powerful enough witness, as you say, but this man had been crying. I never have my confession heard without a tissue in my pocket, but presumably this man knew he might end up in tears and still he came... And it wasn't an empty church either. I found that a very powerful witness.
