Secular saints, incurious journalism, double standards

Have you seen anything by Christopher Hitchens or Johann Hari about the company that Saint ex-President Nelson Mandela keeps? Funny that, eh? It's a rum business having supermodels, former Pakistani cricketers with political ambitions and flaky actresses kipping at your house after a slap-up dinner. Then you get big blokes creeping round the house after lights-out with bags of diamonds offering them to said, lithe, if rather thick, supermodels.

Good job the Holy Father sticks to a light supper, a little piano practice and an early night of an evening. Doesn't stop him being called a 'criminal'.

What an odd world we live in.

Well said! How many dodgy muckers, murderous wives, and terrorist acts does it take for the world to see this vile man for what he is? You make a good comparison between the vitreol aimed at a saintly Pope and the praise heaped unpon an architect of the culture of death.
What would Belloc have said?
