First Holy Communion

Deo gratias, it happened and went without a hitch. Many thanks to those of you who remembered Paulinus Minor Minor in your prayers. A bit weird in that he has to receive Holy Communion by having the pyx handed to him containing the host and then he takes the host himself (is coeliac the only real justification for Communion in the hand? Discuss)

In my view this is one of the situations which justifies a "special" minister of Holy Communion, be they ordinary or extra-ordinary, to administer gluten-free hosts without having been in contact with particles of "ordinary" hosts.

Indeed. But the extraordinary nature of the situation highlights who the ordinary ministers of holy Communon should be and how communion should be given....

Surely another priest could have given him the host?
