So you don't have to...

Here's your all-purpose, cut-out and keep, atheist rent-a-mob comment on any blog from The Telegraph to CiF as it relates to the Holy Father at the moment:

....who is surprised at the behaviour of a former member of the Waffen-SS... Ratzinger the Rottweiler...paedophile-filled...woman-hating...gay-persecuting...irrational...burn down The Vatican...sell all the art treasures...flying spaghetti monster...imaginary friend...Mafia-controlled...white-bearded-man on a cloud...sky-fairy...albino-Opus-Dei-assassins...No Popery here!!...

Oh to be fair the Telegraph (certainly its columnists and journalists; and to some extent the commenters it attracts to) are about as reasonable as the British press gets at the moment. The Guardian...is the Guardian (but has been fairer than one might have anticipated, sometimes at least). Seems as though, in keeping with history, the Times (in both its weekday and Sunday variants) is the biggest villian.

I know the sort of people you mean, Paulinus.

I wonder why they bother. What sad, lonely people they must be, sitting in front of their computer screens all day (look at the times at which they post) waiting with bated breath to add their pathetically predictable and lame comments to any blog which promotes a religious view.

Saint Jude, pray for them.

That'll be me then....
