Dungeon, fire and sword

With the dissolution of Catholic adoption agencies, the power to teach elements of the Catholic Faith having been taken away by Ed Balls we now face the prospect that having forced the Church of England by Law Established into 'celebrating' same-sex civil partnerships, other clergy may be headed the same way.

Ben Summerskill of Stonewall gives the following assessment of where we are headed:

“Right now, faiths shouldn’t be forced to hold civil partnerships, although in ten or 20 years, that may change.”

Did you get that? "Right now" they "shouldn't be forced" but "that may change". I suppose we at least know where we stand.

Those priests now coming to ordination will face a situation, presumably, that before their silver jubilee that they will be forced into acts against the teaching of the Catholic Church under some sort of Civil Constitution of the Clergy. Presumably we'll all eventually face a Test Act of some description. Anyone who doesn't accept the full bhoona of Stonewall's demands might be deprived of tertiary education, public office, employment in any public service if history is any guide to the way things are going.

St John Fisher, St Thomas More and St John Ogilivie pray for us!

Hi Paulinus
Looks like history repeating itself, doesn't it? Well, Catholics, both priests and laypeople, went to prison (and worse) rather than go against the teachings of the Church. We can do it again. We should never, under any circumstances, compromise our faith! Our Bishops should stand firm, no matter what the consequences. Forty Martyrs of England and Wales, pray for us!

God bless you, Paulinus.
