Waste of a Catholic Education #1

The Rt Hon Andy Burnham MP (St Aelred's, Newton-le-Willows, Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge), when he was 'Culture' Secretary had the bright idea that redundant churches might be turned into gyms, restaurants and multi-faith centres.

Given that culture is the totality of socially transmitted behavior patterns, arts, beliefs, institutions, and all other products of human work and thought, might it not be in his brief to encourage people to use those churches as, you know, churches.

No. Clearly not.

His teachers must be so proud.
