Great video, but am pretty certain I've seen it before as the video for 'There is a light that never goes out'. Maybe it's one size fits all?

Ah, well, If I remember correctly (and I am no Smiths obsessive, so this might be wrong) this video was originally made for "Stop Me If You've Heard This One Before".

However, the combination of the Hungerford massacre in the summer of 1987 and the references in the lyrics of that song to planning something more-or-less similar meant that that song was never released as a single. And instead, slightly later in the year, this video was used instead to promote the single that was released...this one.

Where "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" fits into this all, I'm not sure (other than to note that that was only ever released as a single several years after the Smiths had split up, to promote a compilation LP, and may not have previously had a video in its own right: so I guess it's vaguely possible that it was re-used again: it is after all a very characteristic depiction of the band ....)
