Divine Office #2

The non-psalm canticles in the Divine Office of Paul VI are largely unsingable, certainly when compared to the psalms. Whose idea was that?

Again, I offer it up for the Holy Souls.

I take it you are referring specifically to some of the New Testament canticles since O,T. canticles have always formed part of the Divine Office. Come to think of it so have the Benedictus and Magnificat.

I studied at the Venerable English College for five years. The rumour there was that students in the 60's had been asked to do the translation of intercessions. It could be a very credible explanation judging by the standard of translation.
