A New World Record?

21st December 2007 to 8th April 2009.
Is this the shortest ever period from conversion to apostasy?

I think a verdict of apostasy's very harsh - it's much more likely to be a bad case of headline grabbing caused by an overwhelming sense of arrogance being unable to come to terms with its increasing irrelevance.

This story has an interesting parallel - those Italian curialists who believe the Chruch of England will become Catholic through no effort greater than the conversion of the Archbishop of Canterbury. Being familiar with the papal structure, they see the head guy at the top and think that everyone will fall into line behind them. Maybe Mr. Blair seriously thinks that the Pope is actually interested in listening to anything he has to say; which is funny in its own way.

What reallly is disturbing about this interview is that it seems his catechesis has been lamentably poor - 'Prophet Mohammed?' 'Prophet' of what? For whom? Nothing of relevance to a Catholic convert, I'd have thought.

The level of cathechesis in this country is indeed appalling, and is at the root of much of the disintegration of the Church. What is equally disturbing is CMOC's childlike eagerness to receive St Tony in the first place, as if he were mesmerised by the glamour of the man.
