Chant in Edinburgh

Glad tidings of great joy. Embra - so far behind Glasgow in so many things has at last got its own Schola. You kind find out what they are up to HERE:

Our hope is to praise God, to preserve the ancient music of the Church and to facilitate it and promote its use throughout the Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh

Our plan is to set up a schola which will meet for a two hour slot on a weekday evening for rehearsal and chanted Latin vespers.

Mgr Regan has kindly allowed us to use St Mary’s Cathedral in the east end of Edinburgh as the base for our weekly practices and liturgy.

I hope many of them can make it to the Plainchant and Polyphony Weekend, 28-29th March 2009.

It's in Glasgow. But, hey, it's in Lent. We all have to make sacrifices.
