The Work That Must Be Done

My friend The Black Monk has been in another country for the past couple of years, with the task of revitalising a failing monastery. He now has hands on true power: the liturgy.

"I'm choirmaster." he writes, "It's a mess. My predecessor based things on some fine c17 and c18 Protestant hymns but for the Mass they are barely liturgical, let alone monastic"

He's slowly getting them round to the basics of The Chant.

If that's how it is in the monasteries, then its all hands to the pumps....
